‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: Regina, Maleficent’s past in ‘Enter the Dragon’

Maleficent -First and foremost, we just love that “Once Upon a Time” decided to name an upcoming episode “Enter the Dragon.” Anytime we can get a pop-culture reference, we appreciate it. We also like that this episode (airing on Sunday night) is going to give us another spotlight for the Maleficent character. Is she really that terrible? We know that she’s evil, but there is a little glimmer of light in her. That heartbreaking revelation about her lost child is proof of that.

ABC today unveiled the official synopsis for this episode, and it makes it clear just how she needed Regina’s help to potentially recover from a tough time. Also, you can get a better sense of the undercover mission for Lana Parrilla’s character:

“In order to infiltrate the Queens of Darkness as a spy for the heroes, Regina must prove she’s still willing to get her hands dirty. Meanwhile, Emma, David and Mary Margaret scramble to keep tabs on their undercover operative. Hook requests an unusual favor from Belle as Henry makes progress on his search for the Author. In a Fairy Tale Land flashback, Regina befriends Maleficent and helps her to rekindle her lost spark.”

There are going to be guest-stars aplenty also in this episode, from Sebastian Roche (“The Originals”) as King Stefan to the return of Eion Bailey. That to us is the most interesting mystery on the show right now, given that August technically no longer exists. Instead, we have in his place Pinocchio, who has no memory of anything that happened to his former self.
