NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: Sawyer Fredericks, Noelle Bybee face off on Team Pharrell

Pharrell -Monday night marks the beginning of the Battle Rounds on “The Voice,” and we can now tell you at least one of the pairings that will be interesting to watch: Sawyer Fredericks vs. Noelle Bybee. This is an interesting one since it is a chance to see if something unexpected can occur on Team Pharrell. Sawyer is probably the favorite of the two to advance. He had the primo spot during the first audition show, he got four chairs, and the show was hyping him up before the show even premiered. There have not been many contestants like him over the course of the season.

However, the thing that you ultimately have to remember at this point is that we are still in the very early stages of this competition. There are going to be many opportunities for singers to rise and fall, and just because you assume something happens one way doesn’t mean it will. For example, what if Noelle comes out and kills it? Pharrell probably has the luxury of knowing that Sawyer will be stolen by one of the other coaches. That’s what makes the new Battle Rounds slightly more interesting than they used to be; there’s at least a reason for the other coaches to be there.

For his battles, Pharrell is being joined by none other than the awesome Lionel Richie, who is for the most part awesome in this video in the way that he brings out wisdom and advice. He reminds us a little of Sir Tom Jones on the UK show in the way in which he approaches the singer. He may be a little more frank, which is also something we appreciate.

You can also get a sense of a couple of other contestants in here, as well, including Travis Ewing and Anthony Riley.
