‘American Horror Story’ season 5 spoilers: Lady Gaga joins ‘Hotel’

There is going to be a little bit of hotel hell on the upcoming fifth season of “American Horror Story,” but not the sort that necessarily revolves around Gordon Ramsay.

Instead, it is none other than pop uber-star Lady Gaga who confirms that she will be a series regular for the upcoming season debuting on FX this October. Not only that, but it also appears that we now have an official subtitle: “American Horror Story: Hotel.” This part of the reveal does excite us, given that it feels almost like the show is going back more towards its early roots of just giving us a really haunted place, and not necessarily a setting or a group of people who are meant to provide most of the “horror” of it all. Our personal hope is that “Hotel” will revive some ghost-story elements of the show, given that you can have everyone from killers to spirits to all sorts of other terrible people staying the night. Also, it opens the door for dozens of great guest stars.

Now that we’ve said all of this, one thing that we really do have to wonder here is how in the world show co-creator Ryan Murphy continues to court some of the most impossibly famous people out there to be on his shows. Remember here that he already has Ariana Grande recurring on his new series “Scream Queens,” and that the likes of Kathy Bates, Michael Chiklis, Jessica Lange, and Angela Bassett were all a part of this past season of the show.

For Gaga, this must be a role sparked by curiosity. She certainly doesn’t need to star on a TV show at this point in her career.
