‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: Will Maleficent, Cruella de Vil turn Emma evil?

The second half of “Once Upon a Time” season 4 officially sounds awesome, and we have one very key piece of evidence for this right away: The new promo released by ABC! Given that this is the Oscars tonight, the network is clearly putting some more money and effort into giving you some of the best promos imaginable.

This one raises one simple question from start to finish: Is there a way to turn someone like Emma evil? This question seems to be at the center of the upcoming 11 episodes, especially for the Queens of Darkness in Maleficent, Ursula, and Cruella de Vil. Maybe this somehow ties into their own endgame, but the reasoning behind that is not entirely clear just yet. All we really had a chance to do in the midseason finale was see all of them.

We also cannot minimize that Rumpelstiltskin is the one narrating this promo. Robert Carlyle’s character was working things behind the scenes with that hat throughout the entire “Frozen” arc, and he seems to be out to conquer far more than just Storybrooke; he has his eye set on much of the world. However, has he been thwarted by his exile? Is there still a way for him to succeed? You probably will not know that completely until the end of the fourth season, at the very least.

If you love each individual character referenced here, don’t worry: You are going to get at least one episode featuring each one of them, that way you have a better sense of where all of them come from and how they became so evil.
