‘Shark Tank’ review: luminAID, Scholly, Keen Home smart vent, and Taaluma Totes

The latest -We said going into this episode of “Shark Tank” that this had the potential to be one of our favorite episodes of the entire season, mostly because so many products appeared on the surface to be winners. With that being said, they still have the challenge of proving to the sharks that they are worth taking a chance on, and that they can prove their concepts to be as smart as they look on paper. We’re going to be updating this episode (which is set to have a big argument during it) throughout, so be sure to refresh for more!

luminAID – Take a light with you on the go! This reminds us slightly of Lumio from earlier this season, with the difference being that it relies largely on solar power. It’s a great idea for disasters, or if you just don’t want to plug things in much of the time.

The more that we heard about this, the more impressed that we were. There were sales to back it up, the concept works, and while we do have one concern (the charge time is a little high), it’s not a big one. They actually had an offer from everyone, but Mark Cuban won this. He gave them a better deal, and also gave them hope for the future.

Taaluma Totes – A fun idea, but what makes it stand out? The company gets fabric from all around the world, and then uses that to make backpacks inspired by various countries. Then, they give back with microloans to various business owners across the board. We were actually more impressed with the quality and the company after watching this than we were beforehand, but the problems still are the problems: They are overvaluing their brand at the moment, and they’re far too new to the game. They may get somewhere with this, but for now it’s no deal.

Keen Home smart vent – Will this make your house more comfortable to live in? Probably, and we don’t really feel like it’s that bad of an investment if you save money in the end (provided that your home is well equipped for it). The challenge here is getting people aware of what it does and how to use it.

We’re a broken record tonight, but another great negotiation here! They fielded many offers, and after the sharks got competitive, Robert Herjavec met them halfway with a fair offer. They lowered their valuation slightly, but did so for someone who clearly understood the business and where it could go in the future.

Scholly – A great idea for an app, and a major point of contention for the sharks. Based on what the show teased before the episode, it looked like sharks were going to storm off over Lori Greiner getting too aggressive. Well, promos can be misleading. It turned out that it was both Lori and Daymond were responsible in angering the others, mostly in that they made an offer without all of the information getting involved. Robert accused them of basically making a charitable donation more than anything else. This was pretty epic!

Ultimately, we have a hard time knowing where to side here. We love that Lori and Daymond believed in this company so much that they wanted to make an offer, but it also did feel like they wanted this big TV moment out of giving him an offer early.
