‘Arrow’ season 3, episode 13 CarterMatt Podcast: On ‘Canaries,’ Sara’s return, more with Jessa
This past episode of “Arrow” was a little all over the place. It felt like there was a general understanding of where the story needed to go, and thanks to that, there were a few occasions in which the writers seemingly needed to put a square peg into a round hole. Nothing necessarily made sense all of the time.
Luckily, we are here to discuss “Canaries” in what should at least be an eventful episode of the CarterMatt Podcast. In this edition, Matt Carter and Jessa go through the events, starting with of course the big reveal that Thea Queen now knows the truth about who Oliver really is. Why did Thea have such a strong positive reaction here, only to have such a negative one to Malcolm Merlyn keeping the full scope of his knowledge a secret? At the moment, this is a very worthy question.
Also, we discuss the return of Sara Lance briefly for this episode, and how we ended up seeing Vertigo once again mostly as a means to an end for Laurel. This allowed her to really start to transition beyond trying to be like her sister; instead, she now has more of the power and the authority to be her own hero and have her own control over her life. There were some sweet moments in here, but also some devastating ones. The Captain Lance scene is more of the latter.
Finally, we discuss the week in “Arrow” news, including the Diggle – Green Lantern rumors and the casting of Emily Kinney on “The Flash.”
