‘Chicago PD’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Shameless’ actor appearing on ‘Chicago Med’ episode

While it is not even clear if “Chicago PD” will eventually have a “Chicago Med” spin-off, we at least know someone who could be a part of this universe.

According to a new report from TVLine, Nick Gehlfuss has been cast to play the role of Ryan Halstead (Jay’s brother) on an upcoming episode of the NBC series, and he will also appear in an episode of “Chicago Fire” to go along with this. What the shows are trying to do is set up a universe where network execs can explore this world, and see if there is something that they would like to tap into there. They already have one hospital drama in “The Night Shift,” but we do get the sense that they would be happy to add another to the mix. Not only that, but we’ve seen already with these two shows that they love introducing siblings to the fold. That adds just that extra layer of excitement to things.

Speaking to the website about this particular casting, executive producer Matt Olmstead had the following to say as a whole:

“[The character is] a bit of a playboy and a successful doctor, but always off to the next good time … [He] never really sticks around when things get complicated. We’re finding him in a point in his life when he has to knuckle down and get real about being in Chicago.”

We are interested in seeing how this show plays out, though we do still have to say that we cannot really formulate any opinion at this point. How could we?
