‘Glee’ season 6, episode 4 review: Did Rachel and Sam kiss?

Sam -If you would have asked us a good year ago about whether or not we would end up seeing Sam and Rachel together on “Glee,” we would have probably laughed. While we still feel like it’s pretty unlikely, tonight’s new episode entitled “The Hurt Locker: Part I” certainly complicates things.

Already, the internet seems to be extremely divided in their reactions to the thought of these two characters (played by Chord Overstreet and Lea Michele) together. We understand much of it, given that it seemed for so long that Finn and Rachel were going to be endgame before Cory Monteith’s death. They probably would have been. While we would have been fine if Rachel never kissed anyone the rest of the series, we feel like if Finn would have wanted her to be with someone at some point in her life moving forward, it would be a guy he already knew and cared about. Someone he knew had a good heart and would treat her well.

The reason that this will never work is that this is one of many plans by Sue to destroy the glee clubs. She hypnotized Sam to start getting him to make moves on her, which is pretty heartbreaking and one of the meanest things that Sue has ever done. Also, Sam still has feelings for Mercedes, which should make shippers of these two particular characters happy.

On the romance front elsewhere, Sue committed herself to getting Blaine and Kurt together, which included tormenting Blaine and Karofsky repeatedly and even throwing a bear cub into their apartment at one point.

In general, there was probably just way too much Sue in this episode. We also felt bad for Rachel, and a little for Kurt since that whole online date was clearly not going to work. The first three episodes of the season were a whole lot of fun, but they all did a much better job of actually setting up the world of the show and the future. We did not really have that this time. Grade: C.
