Best of 2014 results: Did Hugh Dancy or Melissa McBride win Drama Actor prize?
We’ve been talking for a while about how there are some close races coming up in the CarterMatt Best of 2014 series, but we have to say this at the moment: The race for Drama Actor is the closest one we’ve written about by far. While there were really only two candidates in contention by the end of our polling period, there was a difference of just less than three percent between the winner and the runner-up.
Who is it? Read on to find out, and be sure to look below to see some of the other results, as well!
The two-person race we are talking about here is one that you probably could have predicted based on the title: It was between Hugh Dancy of “Hannibal” and Melissa McBride of “The Walking Dead.” Both were championed by fans, and were aggressively praised for good reason: They were fantastic! They could basically be nominated here every year, just like they should be nominated for the Emmys.
In the end, the honors here do go to Dancy for his take on Will Graham! Congratulations to “Hannibal” fans, but McBride and the “Walking Dead” community have to feel pretty good about themselves for their effort here.
Also, there is something else to look forward to: Both shows will be returning in 2015 with new episodes. In turn, hopefully this means more opportunities to discuss and nominate the two programs more!
Also nominated, just in case you missed out on the nominations, were Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”), Woody Harrelson (“True Detective”), and Katey Sagal (“Sons of Anarchy”).

Melissa McBride should have been nominated for an Emmy? Are you serious? I get whey the show is popular, but it is not because of acting or writing. And having a quite old woman in a tough role is laudable for the producers, but that doesn’t make the actress per se talented. Being the surrogate mom for the group, and capturing the older female audience loyalty is nice, but not award worthy.
