‘The Mentalist’ season 7 spoilers: Patrick Jane meets Michelle Vega

One of the under-reported stories about the upcoming season premiere of “The Mentalist” is the changing of the guard happening at the FBI. After being around for a season, Agent Kim Fischer (Emily Swallow) is gone. There is not even a known reason for her departure at the moment, or if it will even be addressed in any way.

What we can at least give you right now is the latest sneak peek (first posted by TVLine), which introduces you for the first time to the successor in a certain Michelle Vega. While there may not be a whole lot that is known right now about Vega (other than that we want to think of this as some sort of reference to “Street Fighter”), we can take away from this that she is determined, and at least she has some ties to the military via her father. She also seemed to be rattled right away by Jane’s line of questioning.

Vega is going to be around the show all season long, so don’t expect this to be a one-and-done appearance. For us, what we really just hope from her is that she adds some other dimension to the team that we haven’t had already. We already have Abbott and sometimes Cho in the serious roles, so it’s okay for her to have a little fun!
