‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: A big arc coming all about Black Canary
You may have seen some of the photos online already featuring Laurel Lance in the Black Canary costume, but there is still one important question to ponder: When are we going to see her born into more of a hero?
The answer is pretty simple: For a few key episodes early next year. While at the screening event for the “Flash” / “Arrow” crossover event airing on The CW next week, you are going to see a whole lot of Katie Cassidy kicking butt (or at least trying to) beyond that. As a matter of fact, showrunner Marc Guggenheim told The Hollywood Reporter that three episodes coming up are going to be very much about the character:
“Laurel appears in the Arrow episode … She’s not as present in these episodes, but that is because we’ve been building up to her appearance as the Black Canary. We sort of said that Sara was the Canary, but Laurel is the Black Canary. Episodes 10, 11 and 12 are a three-part trilogy that are about her. And episode 13 I think I can spoil, is called ‘Canaries.’ For fans of Laurel and for fans of Katie [Cassidy], they’re going to get more than their fill after the winter break.”
We may have said this before many times, but the one thing we are hoping for from this story above all else is this: We do not want to see the show make Black Canary a full-fledged badass right away. She can have victories, but there is no way she could be ready to take on many career criminals just yet.
