‘The X Factor’ UK results: Was Stevi Ritchie, Ben Haenow, Only the Young eliminated tonight?

The results on “The X Factor” UK were handed down live Saturday, and if we are speaking here with the utmost honesty, it felt like this one was going to be a no-brainer.

No offense to Stevi Ritchie, but that “I’m Still Standing” performance was both a literal / figurative mess with all the dancing, the honey, the flowers, the waxed chest, and whatever it is that he was doing that qualified as dance moves. He seems like a lovely guy and he could have a future in entertainment, but singing is probably not going to be a big part of it unless we’re talking about specific performances in musical theater.

To us, the only other contenders were Lauren Platt and Ben Haenow (just because they performed early in the show), and Only the Young because we’ve always been nervous about them. Fleur East and Stereo Kicks performed late enough that they should be safe, and Andrea Faustini is the favorite to win it all.

This is where the tricky thing comes in, and Only the Young was eliminated. They didn’t deserve it at all, but we’ve had our concerns this was coming for a few weeks now. Remember when we said that Stevi would be better off leaving before it really started to get awkward that he was still there? We think tonight really is the tipping point, and he now has to be careful that the public doesn’t turn completely against him. Granted, it is very well possible he’ll be in the bottom tomorrow.
