‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 6, episode 8 review: Sam super dad, Kensi reveals a secret

NCIS: Los AngelesWe’ve seen Sam go through some pretty rough situations over the past few weeks on “NCIS: Los Angeles” after being accused (and cleared) of a murder accusation, but tonight we have our lovely, sweet Sam back and we couldn’t be happier about it.

Watching Sam chatting on the phone with his daughter, giving her advice for her math quiz and offering her spaghetti and meatballs for dinner was adorable. The seeing Sam basically put a GPS on her by giving her a cell phone was a little smothering… until he gets smothered by her when she calls him over and over again. Things get even more intense when he stops answering his cell phone and his daughter starts calling Hetty for dinner orders for Sam. Jokes on you Sam… and also on Callen when Sam gives his daughter Callen’s phone number.

During the case of the week we learn that Kensi lived on the street after her dad died, and she has a nice moment with Deeks when she opens up to him about the whole experience and he sympathizes with her about how tough it must’ve been for her. She tells him that she never told him about living on the streets because she only wants Deeks to see the best parts of her and he of course makes a joke. We like funny Deeks, but sometimes it would be nice if he just stayed in the moment.

The one thing we are missing from this season is a little more movement on the Kensi/Deeks relationship. We thought there was going to be a bigger story between the two of them this season when we first met Talia at the beginning of the season, but now we are 7 episodes in and we haven’t had a lot more from them. Yes they still have their flirty moments and that’s fun, but after 7 seasons, it might be time to just give us a big win between them. Episode grade: B
