‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2, episode 6 review: Did Coulson save SHIELD from a Senator?

Agents of SHIELD -Tonight, Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” had quite an enormous challenge before it. Typically, the team just has to face off with just evil-doers, and of course the evil organization known as HYDRA.

Tonight, though, the situation was different. Phil Coulson had to deal with allegations that his group was behind a UN attack, and the man who was leading the charge was none other than Ward’s Senator brother, performed wonderfully on this show by none other than “White Collar” star Tim DeKay.

When you face these sort of allegations, sometimes the best answer for politics is politics, and Coulson had to figure out how he could use his arguments, his innocence, and the Senator’s own brother to his advantage. Delivering him on a silver platter was a nice start.

Then, the shockers started, in between some surprising chest ink, Ward’s likely escape, and some signs that nothing is sound for SHIELD moving into its super-brief hiatus.

While the politics made in part for a great episode, what really hooked us in here was seeing more of Adrianne Palicki as Bobbi Morse, and also some fantastic fight scenes to boot. We wouldn’t say that this was as excellent as the last episode (needs more Simmons!), but there was still quite a bit for to like here, at least so long as you are an avid fan of SHIELD in the first place. We’ll just have to see where things go here for the rest of the season moving forward. Grade: B.
