‘Hell on Wheels’ season 4 video: Colm Meaney gives you an inside look on Durant

Hell on Wheels -With the hiatus for “Hell on Wheels” still going strong, at this point we’ll take almost anything we can from AMC to get us excited.

Luckily, we’ve got something that makes us more than satisfied, at least for today, in the video below. In the new video you can see on the network’s official YouTube account, Colm Meaney gives you his take on playing the complicated Thomas Durant, including some of his background, what drives him, and even who Colm compares him to among modern-day captains of industry.

What we’ve always liked about Durant is that he’s a character with such a significant moral gray area. We don’t believe that he is wholly evil, but we also don’t believe he is wholly good. He is mostly just self-involved and wants to figure out what is best for his business and his pocketbook.

It is thanks to this that this season, his own hopes and ambitions have aligned very much with those of Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount). Both have realized that in order for them to succeed when it comes to the railroad, they need to figure out how to get John Campbell out of the picture. More recently, they’ve had to find a way to take out Sydney Snow in order to make that even happen. With Ruth being the one to shoot Syd in the last new episode of the show, he may be at least out of the picture … and that just leaves John to be considered.

There are still three episodes left, and with that, we’ll have to see where this story chooses to go with these characters next.
