‘American Horror Story’ notes: Neil Patrick Harris asked; Melanie Martinez video

American Horror Story -To help to bridge the gap and share some reactions following this past episode of “American Horror Story,” we felt like it would be interesting to do a story comprised of a couple of stories indirectly related to what is going on right now.

We begin, though, with the news that Neil Patrick Harris was actually asked to be on the first “Murder House” season of the show before eventually being asked again to be on this time. (That may or may not happen, given the new Oscar host’s other commitments.) As he tells Entertainment Weekly, the ultimate reason he had to say goodbye to the gig was because he didn’t want to be stuck doing the same sort of role that he and David Burtka had done in a recent movie:

“Relatively recently, David and I had both been in the third Harold and Kumar movie. Harold and Kumar Go to Christmas Town—that’s not the title, but it was about the holidays—and in it, he plays sort of my drug dealer and I really am straight and we’ve been pretending like we’re gay, it’s a very sort of meta joke. We have a terrible relationship, and we’re shouting at each other and it’s awful. Right after that, we were asked to be in season one of this great new show called American Horror Story. And the idea was that we would be a gay couple, that, as it turns out, were murdered in this house and then our ghosts are around for the thing. It seemed cool. Loved Ryan [Murphy], loved the idea of a horror anthology show. Knew nothing about it, but we had just played ourselves as a couple, not getting along, and I thought, it just seems weird to do that twice, like as individual actors, to play a couple that hates each other twice.”

We’ll have more on Harris’ possible casting soon.

Melanie Martinez’s new video – For those who watched “The Voice,” you’ll probably remember Melanie for some of her performances on Team Adam Levine. Her song “Carousel” was featured prominently in many of the promos for the new season, and you can see the brand-new music video for it below. Take a look, and promptly enjoy. You can still get some of the same vibes.
