‘Longmire’ season 4: Netflix, Amazon to reportedly hear pitch

Big news -For all those who love “Longmire,” hope may still be alive for the show to last for at least another season.

According to Deadline, studio Warner Horizon has been working tirelessly to develop the perfect pitch to sell the show, which was canceled by A&E after three seasons, to potential cable networks or streaming services. In addition to that, the producers have been putting together a creative plan, and in tandem, they will attempt to sell the show to many interested parties over the coming days.

Both Netflix and Amazon are reportedly set to hear the plan, but Hulu for the time being is out. Yahoo is mentioned in this report, but their interest may be less due to them relying on advertisers rather than subscriptions. The show still most likely to land somewhere online where they don’t care how old you are so long as you watch the show. Netflix already owns the streaming rights, so that makes sense for them to be an interested party.

The reason why we still personally feel like AMC is another viable suitor here is for similar reasons. While they still care about demo ratings as an advertiser-supported network, their expectations on Saturday are not enormous. A show like “Longmire” could seemingly thrive alongside “Hell on Wheels,” and the lack of competition compensates well for it not being the best night to traditionally watch original programming. The Deadline report says TNT is not interested, and that doesn’t particularly shock us given that they’ve got a pretty full programming slate, even with “Dallas” likely out the door.

We’ll see where the dust settles over the next week or so, but there is a reason for optimism. Still, we prefer personally to set the expectations low, try to send as many good vibes as possible, and hope to be pleasantly surprised. This was our feeling with “Community,” and our expectations of a renewal there were far lower than they are here.

In case you missed it yesterday, Reg Seeton wrote for us an extremely in-depth piece detailing why “Longmire” should be renewed. It’s certainly worth your time to check out.
