‘The Bachelor’: Arie Luyendyk Jr. explains (on Sean Lowe’s blog) why he wants role
Could Arie Luyendyk Jr. be the next star of “The Bachelor“? We know that he’s a leading contender, and we’ve now heard a little more from him in his own words about why he wants this specific gig.
Arie chose an interesting venue to discuss the subject: Sean Lowe’s blog over on Patheos, a faith-based website. The majority of Arie’s guest-blog post is about his spiritual journey, but he also discusses some of the misconceptions about his desire to be on the show, and also why he has trouble meeting someone and getting a relationship started outside of reality TV:
“Since America last saw me, I’ve been running around the country racing my cars and trying to figure out a lot about life. As you may have heard, I’m being considered to be the next Bachelor. However, I don’t want to be on the show for the attention, or to go to exotic locations. In fact, I travel too much as it is. I want to go on the show for the opportunity to dedicate the time to find love instead of traveling for racing. I’m tired of letting my relationships take a back seat to my career. The show would give me the opportunity to slow down and meet someone willing to be a part of my life – as crazy as that life is. I want what my parents have always had… a lifelong partnership of love and adventure. I know I’m ready for change. I’m ready for marriage. I’m ready to open my heart up again for love.”
Arie publishing this post is proof alone that he and Sean are still close following their time on Emily Maynard’s season, and we feel like Sean’s a pretty good barometer of whether or not someone is taking part in the show for (ahem) the right reasons. This gives us some faith that Arie isn’t just looking for fame, and there is something to what he is saying about his job getting in the way of love. Let’s be realistic here: It’s not easy for someone, let alone someone in his profession, to take over a month off of normal work and continue to find love in the process. Yes, it will probably help his career somewhat, but given that his job is based around winning races, we can’t see it helping him that much versus someone whose profession was not so skill-based.
