‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: On the meaning ‘Corto Maltese’

Diggle -What in the world does “Corto Maltese” mean to the uninformed? This is the now-confirmed title for the third episode of “Arrow” season 3 (it’s been rumored for some time now), and it’s definitely one that could have fans either excited or confused.

Let’s work now on getting everyone excited. Corto Maltese is actually, at least in the world of DC Comics, a small island close to South America. It has ties to both Batman, “Smallville,” and also “Arrow” itself. You may have missed the previous reference given that it was so brief, but in “Lone Gunman” Oliver Queen mentioned that this is where Deadshot has some sort of history.

What we are getting at here ultimately is that this is probably going to be a Diggle-centric episode, which has us excited for many reasons. We haven’t really had one about David Ramsey’s character front and center since “Suicide Squad,” which was a highlight of the second half of the season just from an action perspective. Also, we’ve become increasingly worried that the rise of Roy Harper as Arsenal is in turn going to lead to Diggle not having a whole lotto do. We know already that he and Oliver are going to clash often during the early parts of this upcoming season, potentially over the issue of whether or not him being an expecting father is going to ultimately get in the way of completing missions in the future. (We are already wondering how Oliver will react when he finds out his own surprising news about having a kid out there.)

What do you think about this title for right now, and are you excited for more Diggle on the show (at least if our theory is correct)?
