ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 4 spoilers: The premiere title, and a new beginning

What lies beyond the horizon for “Revenge“? It’s an interesting question, and one with what we suppose is a somewhat-incomplete answer.

What we can tell you for the time being is that when the show does return to ABC with all-new episodes starting up in late September / early October (the premiere date is not confirmed yet), it’s going to be a very different sort of show than one we’ve seen before. Victoria is locked up, Emily feels like she has some sort of freedom in the world again, and David Clarke is not actually dead. (Granted, Emily may not feel so free if she knew this.) Does all of this sound like a major renaissance to anyone else? It does to us.

Therefore, it should not come as a shock that “Renaissance” just so happens to be the official title of the show’s season 4 premiere. This was confirmed in a post on Twitter by Sallie Patrick, who wrote this particular installment with showrunner Sunil Nayar. This is the episode that will set the pace for what the rest of the series will be, whether your are talking about Emily’s motives moving forward or whatever the plan for Victoria is now that she is in her most-unusual predicament.

No matter what happens, we’re on board and excited again; while the return of David Clarke was a little bit obvious, everything else feels like a nice reset that throws us back into the unknown again. That hasn’t quite happened for the show since all the way back in the first season.
