‘Big Brother 16’ houseguest spotlight: Will Devin Shepherd hit a home run?
What’s with all the athletes on “Big Brother 16“? We have a guy in Devin Shepherd now who is a former pro baseball player, and he joins Derek and Cody as people who were at least very successful in athletics at some point in their lives. (There may be more, but we haven’t gotten to them yet.)
We’ve included the video interview between Devin and Jeff Schroeder below, but we have to get this out of the way in saying that Jeff has had much better days than this chat. There are literally a few moments in here where it feels like Jeff malfunctions, and asks the same robot question that he did previously.
Name – Devin Shepherd
Age – 26
Location – San Antonio, Texas
Occupation – Motorcycle salesman
Strengths – He is a tank physically, but doesn’t act like he is better than anyone because of it. He’s pretty humble, and as a father he has a little bit of life experience caring for someone else. He’s not going to be as immature or thoughtless as some of the other players in the game.
Weaknesses – As a father, he may feel limited when it comes to what he is willing to do on the show. The last thing that you want to do here, after all, is potentially embarrass your kid someday. Also, his strength is going to make him a target, and there is only so much that he is going to be able to downplay that. We wonder how many missteps he will have early, given there is zero evidence that he knows how to play this game.
Past houseguest comparison – Howard Overby from last season is an obvious one, given that they are both extremely physical guys with no ego about it. We’d also through Lane from season 12 in there.
Prediction – Devin is a guy who really has to watch out early in the game. Howard’s undoing is that it was obvious he was throwing competitions because he didn’t want to be perceived as a threat. Devin has to at least try to win a thing or two, even if it is best at times to act like he is incompetent. We just can’t see him going too far, mostly because he will be identified early as someone who needs to be taken out.
