‘Bones’ season 9, episode 22 preview: The Ghost Killer story returns

Take a look -As we wrote in our most-recent “Bones” episode review, the biggest issue that we’ve had with the show in 2014 is that there really isn’t anything to look forward to beyond the mysteries themselves. The Ghost Killer storyline first surfaced early on in the season, but since that time, the plot has stalled and almost disappeared like a ghost.

Next week, this story luckily returns to inject some new life into the season, and it will ironically be with a pretty morbid title attached in “The Nail in the Coffin.” Based on the synopsis below, there will be plenty going on here to keep you engaged:

“The Jeffersonian team investigates the death of Stephanie McNamara, the daughter of a wealthy family whose remains were found in a national park. When the team digs deeper into the circumstances surrounding her death, clues from the case lead them to believe she may be the Ghost Killer’s latest victim, with a surprising connection to a previous victim. Meanwhile, the FBI Deputy Director takes a special interest in the team’s high-profile case and Booth’s career may be in for some changes.”

This is a story that will not be necessarily wrapped up in this episode, either … or maybe even this season. If “Bones” has cast the Ghost Killer, they have done it under a heavy air of secrecy and without anyone reporting it.

At least the promo below suggests that what really has this story standing out above the others is that the Ghost Killer may finally be starting to make mistakes. This latest kill is far more violent than the others; it’s either that they are getting sloppy, they want to be caught, or they are just trying to send a message.
