NBC’s ‘Hannibal’ season 2, episode 6 review: Mads Mikkelsen rules a dinner party

The latest -Hannibal” season 2 just keeps getting better and better, and Friday night’s episode to us had almost everything that you could possibly hope for. There was another gruesome murder tableau, more of Hannibal trying to be the greatest chef in America, and quite the dinner party crashed by Jack Crawford.

You see, Jack is finally starting to become aware of what is really going on here, which is in turn a nice clue to remind you of that fight coming up later in the season. (It’s been confirmed that it will be a part of the finale.) Jack came up with what was a pretty ingenious plan to ensure that he could finally catch him in the act, serving human at one of the most awful dinner parties imaginable: Order some takeout, and then be on his merry way.

Unfortunately, the doctor (played as always masterfully by Mads Mikkelsen) came up with a counter of his own that involved a brilliant alibi, a hospital, and a quick switch to cover his tracks. While Jack may realize now that the ripper was never gone (another sign towards Will’s innocence), he still doesn’t have all of the evidence that he needs to put him away.

What could change everything now? In the episode’s huge twist, Miriam was discovered at the bottom of a pit! Could she be the missing link? You better hope so, since Gideon was handed his “last supper” (a most terrible one) as the story came to a close.

The beauty of this show is that even when Hugh Dancy takes a backseat, the story is still brilliant. What a disturbing, fantastic episode this was. It’s the perfect segue into our first-ever “Hannibal” podcast tomorrow, which we will have for you at this link. Have anything you want to see addressed? Share in the comments below! Grade: A-.
