‘Glee’ season 5 song spoilers: Hear Adam Lambert, Chris Colfer perform ‘Rockstar’
The majority of time, we know the song on “Glee” before it is performed on the show. That’s not the case with “Rockstar.” This is a song from A Great Big World (whose hit “This Is the New Year” was actually featured before they found fame with “Say Something”), and it’s a pretty lovely tune. Or, maybe we find it so lovely just because we really love Adam Lambert and Chris Colfer’s rendition of it as Elliott and Kurt.
The sad news is that this may be the last featured performance from Adam on the show. He’s not listed as appearing in any episodes after “New New York,” but if this is the end, at least this performance is happy and hopeful. There’s nothing that suggests that Elliott and Kurt have some sort of massive fallout unless it happens later in the episode. The song starts off pretty subtle, but then builds towards this epic rock vocal and conclusion that leaves you wanting more.
The reality is that Adam has to leave to take on some other commitments, which include his own music and also the upcoming tour with Queen. Also, “Glee” has some other storylines that they want to tackle. We believe that it’s certainly possible that he returns someday, mostly because almost every single one of their guest stars gets an open-ended conclusion that leaves it open for a reprisal. (Thanks to this, we’re still begging for another appearance from either Max Adler or Matt Bomer before this show ends.) In the case of Elliott, a likely return is accentuated further by the fact that he will have been friends with Kurt and company for a solid three additional months from when we last saw him. There’s a time jump coming at the start of this one.

On to bigger and better things. How about Adam host his own TV variety show. I would love to see him in more comedy sketches. And why has he not hosted SNL?

I know Adam has some really important things to do this summer (concert tour with Queen, finishing album #3), but I’m going to miss him so much on Glee! The show was getting stale and he really brought it back to life. I loved hearing his amazing vocals on the show, not to mention seeing that GORGEOUS face and body on my TV. I wish I could see him on TV every week!!!!! Adam has turned out to be a really good actor, too. I can only hope that he has a little time next season to make a few more appearances on Glee before it ends because he really is a STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
