NBC’s ‘The Voice’ review: Meet Josh Kaufman, Ddendyl, Alaska & Madi

The latest -Another edition of “The Voice” has come and gone, and we are still wondering whether or not there are some potential winners in the group. At least tonight had some strong singers, but only the one at the end had us truly excited for what they could be doing next.

There is only one more blind audition left, so could there by something that changes then? We hope so, since the show rarely mixes it up and gives us one of the best parts of the blind auditions last. We’ve arranged all of the singers who did advance on the show tonight below, in order of where they finished.

Team Adam

Kat Perkins, “Gold Dust Women” – It’s another rocker named Kat! She’s very good, but we’re not surprised with someone with her level of experience was able to win over some of the coaches. Also, we’re not surprised to see her pick the coach who has the most experience in her field. She’s one of those people who could end up going home in the battle rounds, but if she finds the right song, there is “sleeper” written on her.

Josh Kaufman, “One More Try” – An awesome performance, and the best of the night by a mile. Heck, it wasn’t even really close. He did everything that you’d want a seasoned performer his age to do, including make the right decision.

Team Blake

Paula DeAnda, “The Way” -Can you really be surprised by this savvy choice? We saw Paula coming on here and saying that she was a big Shakira fan, but someone who has opened for Rihanna and released a major album knows that popularity often wins out … and Blake is the most popular coach on the show. It may be harder to get to the live shows with him, but if you do make it that far, you have a great shot at winning.

Ria Eaton, “Cups” – A fun little song choice for Ria! Plus, she wanted Blake so badly that she was able to overlook both Adam and Usher openly campaigning for her to pick Shakira, but it didn’t happen. Guess Shakira is going to miss her now that she’s gone.

Alaksa and Madi, “Barton Hollow” – What a surprising song choice for sure! It’s more of an unknown song choice for these two youngsters, but there is a lot of potential here. It’s one of the more intriguing pairs that we’ve seen on the show. But the moment that we saw them be compared to Pistol Annies by Blake, this one felt easy to call.

Team Shakira

Cierra Mickens, “Crazy” – This was a performance that was so much fun. So. Much. Fun. Cierra’s got a big personality, and we almost hope that she sticks around just for that. One of the best of the night, and we even loved her enthusiasm over the rousing round of “girl talk” that she was a part of.

Team Usher

Jake Barker, “When I Was Your Man”Jake is the “mystery contestant” who was teased in the recent preview video for the show. He has a nice voice,  but we cannot really sit here and say that it was worthy of all this hype. Plus, so many people have performed this song that  He went with a guy, though, who will be able to really help him. Grade: B-.
