‘Suits’ season 3 receives March return date; ‘Psych’ season 8 to start in January
“Suits” is no longer suiting up after “White Collar.” Despite the two USA series being paired together in the past in early January, the network has opted now to allow the likes of Mike and Harvey to fill a timeslot a little later in the spring.
What is the primary reason for this? While it may be distressing to the “Suits” faithful to see their show starting on Thursday, March 6 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, it’s smarter for the network. USA is going to use the show, a ratings anchor for them in recent years, to launch the new comedy “Sirens” starring Denis Leary. You have to give these shows a chance to find an audience early, and giving a great lead-in is one of the best ways to do that.
Meanwhile, the network also confirmed that Wednesday, January 8 is going to be the launch date for the ten-episode eighth season of “Psych.” This is less than a month after the musical episode airs, which means that the show is really going to try to use the momentum of one to carry over to another. This may also be great news to fans who had to wait more than a year for season 7, who now are getting to see a new season less than 11 months after the season 7 premiere. These episodes are going to be missing at times Maggie Lawson, who was working on “Back in the Game” in addition to this show. But with the baseball comedy now canceled, it does raise some interesting questions regarding the future of the show. USA has never confirmed that season 8 will be the final season, and the show still has a large and enthusiastic fan base.
As you may have known already, “White Collar” (which is wrapping up its fall run in the coming weeks) is going to resume its fifth season after the holiday break on Thursday, January 9 at 9:00.
