‘Glee’ season 5 spoilers: Were Dianna Agron, Heather Morris invited for 100th episode?
Who is appearing on the 100th episode of “Glee“? That is something that we are slowly starting to figure out, as Ryan Murphy himself breaks the news to his fans.
The big news began with a post on Twitter making it clear that everyone who was a part of that first incarnation of New Directions is being invited to take part in this spectacular (which is airing on Fox next year): “ALL The Glee Originals received invites today to be in our 100th episode! More to follow.” But what does Murphy mean by “originals”? The easy assumption is the group that first formed after the completion of “Preggers” rather than just the pilot, which was by and large the same lineup that stayed there until the end of season 3. This group includes Rachel, Kurt, Santana, Quinn, Brittany, Puck, Mercedes, and Mike Chang. However, it does not necessarily include people who joined later in the run, such as Lauren, Rory, Sugar, or Joe. (Why hasn’t the absence of the latter two ever been really explained?)
Probably the biggest news here is that both Dianna Agron and Heather Morris have each been asked back, since they are the two who have yet to make an appearance during season 5. There was a lot of confusion about why Agron wasn’t asked for the Cory Monteith tribute episode, but that will probably be water under the bridge she has long said that she would love to return if everything aligns schedule-wise. As for Heather, it’s more about whether or not she is ready to work again, even for just a couple of days, after giving birth to her baby earlier this fall.
Apparently, the one person that this list does not include is Dijon Talton, who played the minor character of Matt throughout the first season. (He was replaced by Sam Evans in season 2.) Talton wrote on Twitter today that he hasn’t been asked yet.
Murphy has confirmed that Amber Riley will be back as Mercedes, and Mark Salling has also signed on to return… the rest of the cast is up in the air for now. We imagine in the end that most of the gang will get back together, but it could be hard to wrangle them all back again as some of the actors are off doing other things.
