‘The Mentalist’ season 6, episode 8 video: Patrick Jane, Lisbon, and a Red John meeting

In just a matter of a few short days now, it’s finally over for Patrick Jane. He will have the opportunity to finally get the revenge that he has been hoping for since the beginning of “The Mentalist,” and the only mystery that remains at this point is just what form this revenge will take. Will he kill Red John? In the sneak peek below, he asks Lisbon for her gun; however, he at the same time says that he is not going to use it to kill him. But, we also say that Jane was willing to fire a shot during the tense battle that he had with the five suspects at the start of “The Great Red Dragon.”

The assumption that is easy to make from this video is that the person that Jane is getting set to meet is Gale Bertram, and it is rather surprising that this is the person that Jane would get an invitation from in the first place. Isn’t this man better off now in hiding … or is he not really Red John? While it certainly makes some sense from the standpoint of Simon Baker’s character that he is, there is technically still room for some sort of shocking twist.

We don’t want to see the show get too cute with the way in which it brings people “back to life,” but the only two alternative suspects out there could be either Brett Partridge or Thomas McAllister. We have been able to assume that both of them are dead, but we have never seen a face attached to the body of either one of them. Clearly, that was done intentionally, but it does make you wonder if Partridge was alive, whose corpse had the tattoo seemingly ripped off of it this past week. (We don’t think it could be McAllister, given that he is much older and his body would never pass for a younger guy.)

There is at least one little moment in here where you start to legitimately feel like there could be a romantic spark coming for Jane and Lisbon, but it doesn’t go anywhere … at least not yet.
