‘The Mentalist’ season 6 spoilers: First look at Emily Swallow’s mysterious new role
This photo of Fischer was first posted by TVLine, and save for maybe the fact that she enjoys long walks on the beach, it doesn’t really tell you much. The only real hint that has been dropped about this role is that she plays a woman with some sort of connection with Patrick Jane. Unless they somehow manage to bring his dead wife back to life (and this is not that kind of show), it’s hard to really figure out who else this could be.
What we can tell you overall about this December 1 episode is this: The title is “My Blue Heaven,” which is mostly just nice in that it’s a title with a different color in the name other than red. Also, there will be some sort of significant leap forward in time following Sunday’s “Red John,” that way you can really get a sense as to what Simon Baker’s Patrick Jane and the rest of the cast are going to be up to in the wake of the aftermath. Rigsby and Van Pelt are going to sadly be gone at some point around this time, as their characters are being written out as a part of the show’s massive reboot. We don’t even know if the CBI will be a part of it anymore following the end of the big investigation. (They’ve already been removed from their posts.)
We know that it’s going to be hard for a procedural to maintain the intensity that they have during those rare serialized moments, but the past two episodes of “The Mentalist” have been some of the best television on the air over the past month. It’s a shame that so many viewers in the demo trickled away before they had a chance to see this story play out.
