ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3, episode 8 review: Did Sarah ruin Emily and Daniel for good?

“Revenge” has been a rather complicated web of lies and deception for a little while now, but in some way, the new episode on Sunday night found a way to make everything even worse.

The first thing that we realized here is that Victoria Grayson may have finally succeeded in one of his dastardly plans: Finding a way to make a wedge between Emily and Daniel with Sarah. He was already cheating on his fiancee with her, but by the end of the episode, he realized via all of the plotting and shade-throwing going on that Victoria and Emily are in his mind the same person. Thanks to that, he doesn’t want to be with her anymore, and he wants to use that little batcave hideout of Conrad’s to figure everything out.

Emily now has a major reason to be concerned. Does she really love Daniel? Not at all, but she was hoping that he would love her. It’s going to be difficult for the wedding to happen at this point, but Emily has a way of making some of her plans actually succeed. Take, for example, the big reveal that she is “pregnant.” Is that really true? Doubtful, but this was the perfect way for her to reel him in, and convince him to stay with her rather than abandon a child. It’s terribly cruel, but also terribly brilliant on her part.

Also, Lydia Davis is here! That was the reveal at the end of the episode, as Margaux now has an ally of her own in the battle against Conrad.

This episode was a thrilling hour, and one of the most engaging hours of the entire year. All we have for the time being is hope that this ends just in the way that Emily wants … with the exception of her escaping the Hamptons. Grade: B.
