Why you should keep watching Fox’s ‘Almost Human’ after premiere
Tonight, Fox is desperate to launch a new hit drama series in “Almost Human,” at least so much so that they are putting this human / android cop show on after NFL football to capitalize on that lead-in. This alone makes a good bit of sense, given that you want to draw as big of an audience as humanly possible for something straight out of the gate.
But is there really a reason to be that optimistic about the show’s pilot? Let’s just put it this way: Most reviews for the show this far have not been that kind. Despite this show coming from “Fringe” guru J.H. Wyman, it doesn’t have the same sort of magic to it yet. Plus, we feel like the premise alone of a human working alongside who is effectively a robot partner will take some getting used to, especially in the “keep it from being cheesy” department.
But the reason that we would say to not give up watching this show early is because “Fringe,” and many other sci-fi series for that matter, also fail to really start off that strong. It takes a little bit of time for them to find their footing. Heck, the entire first season of “Fringe” was not anything special, though one of the reasons for that may have been a different creative team. If you are a little too bogged down with some other shows tonight to catch “Almost Human” tonight, our suggestion is to record a few weeks on the DVR, check in see what the ratings are, and if you are starting to hear good things, get invested in the story. We’re assuming that the numbers will be good tonight, but the big test will come tomorrow when it airs alongside “Sleepy Hollow,” and against the monster known as “The Voice” and the solid performer known as “How I Met Your Mother.”
But, the good news here is that you don’t have to wait to check out something related to the series now. Just click here, where you can see the first few minutes of the show in advance.
