‘Once Upon a Time’ season 3, episode 8 preview: Is Rumpelstiltskin’s secret revealed?

The latest -

Ever since last season on “Once Upon a Time,” the story of Robert Carlyle’s Rumpelstiltskin has been complicated tremendously, and all thanks to one simple fact: A prophecy that was told to him by a sage that at one pint in his life, a young boy (i.e. Henry) is going to be his undoing. This supposedly has motivated him at times, but it is also something that he has seemingly gotten over … at least until now.

If you look below, you can see the news be broken to the rest of Rumple’s traveling party courtesy of Neal that rather than actually coming to Neverland to save Henry, his father is here to try to kill him. In proving here that it really does not take too much at all to set most of these people off, they are all quick to respond by drawing their weapons / preparing for the battle of the century.

But is this really what Rumple’s real motivation is? At this point, we are a little bit unsure if for no other reason than that he has had some opportunities to find Henry and kill him already, and there has been all of this chatter about him supposedly turning over a new leaf. If he has done that, isn’t he a valuable resource to have given his magic resources? The true tragedy here is that save for Belle, it really feels like the show hasn’t had that much to do with Rumple this season so far, which is a sham given all of the good stuff that could be there between him and Peter Pan. It instead feels like he’s been out on his own little island having to deal with his own history weighing him down.
