‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 6, episode 9 review: Did Jax Teller learn the truth about Tara?
“Sons of Anarchy” has taught us many things over the course of the years, or at least re-taught us things that we would supposedly already know: Gangs are bad news, as are prison inmates, the gun trade, and devious plots to cover up the truth, but what makes the show so fascinating lies in the deconstruction; there are times when you may be misled to think that these ideas are being in some ways glamorized, only to realize later that the emotional fallout is far greater than you could imagine.
This is the prevailing emotion that we are left with after watching “John 8:32,” a gut-check sort of episode where Jax finally learned the truth when it comes to Tara’s plot to fake a pregnancy, take the children away, and never look back. This came courtesy of her entire cover-up team completely falling apart when just the slightest bit of pressure was put on them. We also learned here that Nero was still very much team Gemma, even if he has learned some things about John Teller’s death that are troubling.
At the tail end of “John 8:32,” we saw Tara prepared in some ways for the violence that could come her way, as she had a pistol in tow that she is presumably ready to use. We have to say that things aren’t looking real good for her right now when it comes to her long-term survival odds on the show. Is there that much more of a story left to tell with Tara? The only thing that can really happen to her at this point other than death is finding a way out of Charming and the surrounding areas, and that is not going to be an easy proposition for her in the slightest.
This episode did bring a few other fantastic scenes as well, including Clay finally becoming an important part of the show again (coupled with some scenes of violence), and Jax presumably telling Patterson that he will help her with a deal where he will bring to her Galen along with a gun shipment. He has ten days to pull this one off.
As for that Brooke story, it doesn’t have a lot to do with anything right now. So consider it a work in progress? When you remember that this character is going to appear one more time this season, that may be the best course of action to take.
“John 8:32” was still the best “Sons of Anarchy” episode in a few weeks, and brought us a few revelations that will shape the rest of the season. Even if was more of an hour designed to build up the storm ahead, it promised that we’d be getting a tornado rather than just a few showers. Grade: A-.
What do you think is going to happen to Tara moving forward, and do you think she survives this season? Be sure to share below! Meanwhile, click here to read some more “Sons of Anarchy” news, including a preview video that will be posted shortly.

This is the 4th review i’ve seen that didn’t get the connection between brooke and jax. the mom is the homeless woman whose appeared in the show since the first episode of the show. She was killed in the pileup with JT. She is extremely important and the revelation of her, her mother, and that plotline, is going to be pivotal in the season 6 finish.
