‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7 spoilers: First photo, details on Bill Nye appearance
For the first time since the start of the November sweeps, we are going to have a Thursday night coming up without a new episode of “The Big Bang Theory.” As for what the reasoning behind that is, think about it for a second: It’s Halloween, and there’s no way that CBS is going to cart out their highest-rated show to air on a night when there just is not going to be all that many people out there watching.
So the next new installment is going to air on Thursday, November 7, and it is a big one. Not only is “The Proton Displacement” the second appearance of Bob Newhart on the show as Professor Proton, but it also happens to be the first time that Bill Nye has turned in an appearance. We do love how there is a little bit of irony in him stopping by on the show right now, given that Nye was probably the inspiration for the Proton character in the first place.
You can get a glimpse of the whole gang together in the above photo, and in the synopsis below you’ll get a real understanding as to what the “Bill Nye the Science Guy” star is going to be doing within the world of the show in the first place:
“Sheldon feels slighted when Professor Proton seeks advice from Leonard instead of him, and he seeks revenge by befriending a rival science TV host, Bill Nye. Meanwhile, Raj gets jealous when Howard crashes ‘girls night.'”
This has turned out to be quite a banner year for Nye. After being relegated to the background for many years (though he was still doing important work in the science community in that time, he has since appeared on “Dancing with the Stars,” where he was eliminated a few weeks in, and now he is doing on of the biggest shows on TV. These appearances should enable him an opportunity to be a little bit more high-profile moving forward, and help him to further speak out on some of the causes he supports.
Just when it comes to “The Big Bang Theory,” though, getting him on this show is a match made in heaven. For anyone who grew up watching him on TV, isn’t it nice to see him have a high profile part yet again?
