‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 6, episode 7 review: Did Tara set Gemma up? Plus, the story of Venus
Somehow, “Sons of Anarchy” continues to surprise. We knew that the show was setting up something dramatic with what Tara has been up to as of late to get her boys out of Charming and away from Jax Teller, but who would have guessed that it would lead to something this elaborate?
While Gemma may be tough, Maggie Siff’s character proved in this episode that she really is the smartest person in the room. Using a blood bag and using Gemma’s own anger against her, she concocted a situation to ensure that Gemma knew that she wanted to get her kids away from anyone that she could have contact with, and then set her up to make it look like her “unborn child” was hurt in the process. This is still not a perfect plan when it comes to the way in which it was handled logistically, but at this point, Tara is a desperate woman, and she did what she felt like she had to do to ensure her family is safe. We can hardly blame her, given that she was backed into a corner.
As for the other major story of the week, it was mostly a reflective one on how Jax may have seen a part of himself in the way in which Venus Van Dam was being treated. There was a moment where she didn’t think that she could be a good parent because of her past mistakes, and these were questions that Jax has been probably asking himself. With this being said, this was probably the most extraneous story in weeks; we love Walton Goggins more than almost any TV actor on the planet, but this did not do much to extend along the story of SAMCRO, and the majority Tara’s plot would have happened without it. We do wonder if Venus’ happy trigger finger will come back to haunt someone later on.
Ultimately, the biggest news for MC this week is that they have a new clubhouse for the time being, and that they’ve finally promoted one of their own prospects.
What is important to take away from “Sweet and Vaded” ultimately is that Jax’s family will never be the same, and that he finally signed the papers. Maybe this was the real purpose of the Venus storyline, though it could have been slightly more clear. Now that this move has been made, Tara finally gets what she wants, but the emotional consequences could be pretty severe for Jax. We can’t sit here and say that this hour was necessarily as stellar as last week’s “Salvage,” but there is no denying the impact that some of these scenes will have on the show’s future. It’s almost funny now that after weeks of 90-minute episodes, getting one that was just under 75 somehow felt short. Grade: B+.

This was such an excellent episode. I can’t believe how many people are hating Tara for what she did. But I suppose that is reflective of society in general – the bad guys can be forgiven for being a**holes their entire lives, and the good guy who cops everything does ONE thing wrong and everyone’s against them. I mean Jax only just slept with a hooker while Tara was in prison for HIM and his crew. They’ve all done horrible things yet Tara is somehow the one being attacked? I think she did what any desperate mother would do. That is no environment for a child to live in and given the people she has to deal with she doesn’t have the option to do it in a more civil manner. I just hope that she gets out of it all in the end and nothing actually happens to her as “punishment” when they find out the truth. Witness Protection maybe if she does turn them all in to save her life? Love this show!!!

I believe Jax was only set up as in the past episodes he always ended up telling Gemma what was going on, and then Gemma would wreck any plans made without her ok. Maybe , maybe not Tara may be pregnant, too early in first trimester or was it second? but definately was meant to keep Gemma out of reach of the kids. Her divorce papers were meant as a ruse to temporarily cut any ties to the MC that she could be connected with during the trial. The prosecuter even stated she would use Tara to get at the MC any way possable to hang the gun running noose around someone.

Hey, lets not forget Gemma did the same thing to Tara and showed no mercy setting her up. Gemma started it! What Tara did to Gemma was needed to get her away from her, so the kids can get out. Tara faking the miscarriage is gonna bite her in the ass but I can see that Tara needed to sacrifice her marriage to get the kids out. Everyone feels sorry for Jax about the lie but remember he cheated on her when she was in jail! Gemma got her Karma, and Tara is in a sinking ship and taking everyone down that stops her. I don’t think she’ll give up the club to the DA like Tara said…”I love my husband, there are boundaries when betraying love”

I still can’t grasp what Tara did to Gemma….Can’t wait until Tara is exposed…I suspect it will be by Enser. Tara knew what he was getting into when she married Jax and every time she got pregnant. No sympathy for her…clear Gemma!

I think this episode says alot.!! For one, Jax and Gemma are learning from their past mistakes. Jax wants no more blood, Gemma is thinking about the big picture as well. The Kids..The only downside is their tempers which usually gets the best of them. Ailce is cruel, and deserved what happened to her, but it may come back and bite them. As far as Tara, I don’t even know what will happen to her when Jax finds out.. That is going to be an interesting episode. Jax is loyal to his friends and family, but between trying to help everyone, it seems he only digs a deeper hole for his soul. Hopefully with this new clubhouse, it will be a beginning to a honest way of making clean money. until then, what is a show without a little drama? Love SOA!!

I thought it was kinda gross for her to fake a pregnancy and then fake the miscarriage! Poor Jax will be devastated when he finds out. He always does…
