‘American Horror Story: Coven’ episode 3 preview: ‘The Replacements,’ and Fiona’s ‘protege’
Tonight on “American Horror Story: Coven,” you saw quite a few shocking things. There were events involving snakes that you are never going to be able to un-see (and that definitely justified some of that promotional art out there), Stevie Nicks music being used in some bizarre way to revive people, and also just a general air of craziness. Basically, it’s this show in a nutshell, and the story will now progress on to an episode called “The Replacements” that we’re assuming is going to be nothing like the football movie of the same name.
Before doing anything else, let’s dive first into the full synopsis, which is at least a little more revealing than some of what FX traditionally hands out for their episodes:
“Fiona takes on an unlikely protégé. A guilt-ridden Zoe tries to give Kyle his old life back. Madison has a fiery exchange with Joan Ramsey, a new neighbor.”
Now, let’s turn to that promo below. There is a knife that is thrown by one of the students, some more great snarky commentary from Jessica Lange, and Angela Bassett proves yet again that it is not a good idea to mess with either of these ladies. You really get a sense this season that there are quite a few terrible things coming. When you have a cast this big, some heads are going to roll and not all of them will be brought back to life as we saw in last night’s episode. The big question is also every one of the classic five W’s that you study while in school. This season may shock and offend many of you (and it went over the line at least once in the premiere, from our standpoint), but there are going to be others who are not only at the edge of their seat, but occasionally falling off.
