FX’s ‘Fargo’ adds Kate Walsh to cast that includes Colin Hanks, Martin Freeman
Is there any way that “Fargo” could get itself any better of a cast for its upcoming 10-episode event? Based on the names that keep on popping up here (Colin Hanks, Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman of “Sherlock”), we’re starting to wonder about it.
Before we get any further here, we should start off by explaining the concept for those who have not heard. This ten-episode series on FX is based off of the iconic movie from Joel and Ethan Cohen, who are both executive-producing, and is an entirely new crime story that will feature an interesting mixture of characters.
So who are the latest castings to the project? According to a report from Deadline, the following names have all been plugged into the cast alongside the aforementioned names.
Kate Walsh – Returning to TV following her time on “Private Practice,” she is going to play a “reluctant mother” of two children and is also a “trophy wife” type of character.
Joey King – Fresh off of her role in Zach Braff’s “Wish I Was Here,” she will be the daughter of Hanks’ character, who is on the police force.
John Close – This actor will play Ron, the brother of Freeman’s character, who was an insurance salesman in a small town.
Personally, we think that this could be beyond awesome, but the issue here is that it’s another cop show when we really don’t need another cop show. In between “True Detective,” “Low Winter Sun,” “The Killing,” and all of the procedurals, the Cohen brothers are really going to have to put their stamp on this one. Otherwise, it could be a yawner pretty quick. We love the movie, so fingers crossed.
Based on what you are seeing here, are you getting more and more excited about this casting for “Fargo”? As always, we want to hear some of your thoughts with a comment below.
