‘Homeland’ alum David Harewood joins Nathan Lane in HBO pilot from ‘Deadwood’ creator

David Milch may be getting close to 70 (very old in showrunner years), but he obviously still has some great ideas. It’s hard to not have confidence in anything that a guy responsible for both “Deadwood” and also part of “NYPD Blue” puts on the screen, and we are therefore very excited to see where his latest HBO project goes.

In case you have not heard much about this pilot yet, here’s what you need to know: The show is entitled “The Money,” and it revolves around James Castman (Brendan Gleeson), a powerful media mogul with a great deal of influence and also a powerful family. Just the casting of Gleeson, a brilliant character actor, is enough to be excited about. But Nathan Lane as a reporter desperate to try to break a hot story is icing on the already delicious cake.

The new story from The Hollywood Reporter, announcing that “Homeland” alum David Harewood has also joined the series in the role of Kurt Corbitt, an extremely powerful CEO that even Gleeson’s character will have to answer to on some level. We’re thrilled to be seeing David in the role of something other than a cop for one, and he should be able to knock this out of the park.

HBO really is reloading following the decision to end “True Blood” next summer after seven seasons. They have the Damon Lindelof produced show “The Leftovers” already ordered to series, the Ryan Murphy’s sexual drama “Open” is also being considered to be a heavy favorite to air (especially if “Masters of Sex’ ends up being a big hit and showing that viewers are not necessarily afraid of the racy stuff.
