‘The Mindy Project’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Saturday Night Live’ cast member Vanessa Bayer in
Is “The Miley Cyrus Show” going on the road? Probably not, but the famous sketch artist behind the part of the singer has found herself a new part-time gig over at “The Mindy Project.”
According to TVLine, Vanessa Bayer, who is now one of the regulars of at “Saturday Night Live,” will guest-star in an upcoming episode as a love interest for Chris Messina’s character of Danny, who, as we last saw him, was still reeling from a recent breakup and spending some time with some other single guys. While there are no further details about the part right now, Bayer joins a laundry list of actors doing guest spots on Mandy Kaling’s series these days as love interests. Glenn Howerton and Ben Feldman (“Mad Men”) are two of the other famous names coming up.
Kaling still needs all of the help from guest stars that she can get. Despite practically being the “Good Wife” of comedy when it comes to guest casting, “The Mindy Project” still needs to improve its ratings fortune. It is the lowest-rated member of the Fox Tuesday-night family unless “Dads” continues to fall, and with “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” looking to be a consistent player, its struggles are amplified perhaps even more. It is a funny series, and the one thing worth noting here is the improvement that has been made since the first half of last season. It almost is reminiscent of “Parks and Recreation,” another show that started slow but managed to figure itself out as it moved beyond the first season.
