‘The Mindy Project’ season 2 spoilers: Adam Pally of ‘Happy Endings’ upped to regular
How is this for Adam Pally still having something to be happy about? Less than one year after “Happy Endings” was unfortunately canceled by Fox far before its time, the actor has now found himself a new and seemingly-permanent home over on “The Mindy Project.”
According to Deadline, the Fox series, which is in need of a ratings bump after posting the not great numbers for the network on Tuesday (though, to be fair, the show was available early), has made Pally a series regular for at least the rest of season 2. This is quite a show of support, given that the first episode featuring him does not air until October, and usually such a promotion does not come until months later. So why the change here? The simple answer here is that Mindy Kaling and the producers knew that they had something great here, and wanted to hold onto it. Pally, who plays an ObGyn on the show, will see his first appearance air on October 1.
This news comes on the heels of there being a whole heap of guest stars coming on “The Mindy Project” this year. James Franco is in the middle of an arc in the role of a rival doctor. Meanwhile, the likes of “Mad Men’s” Ben Feldman and “Justified’s” Timothy Olymphant are also going to be playing love interests. (The same goes for Glenn Howerton of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”) Let’s just hope that this is the extra addition that the show needs to get it from being just “funny” to one of the best on TV.
