ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6: Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion, cast get glamorous in new photos

Did Richard Castle just win an Academy Award crafted in Beckett’s image? We have to admit that “Oscars” is the first thing that came to mind after looking at the super-glamorous image attached here to promote the upcoming sixth season of “Castle.” While the show is clearly not giving away any sort of possible engagement here, these two clearly don’t look like people that are about to break up, do they?

Outside of Rick winning a major award (and not the kind that is a leg lamp like in “A Christmas Story”), the only other interpretation we can think of here is that maybe these two wanted to dress up like a bumbling James Bond and the Bond girl that saves the day at a Halloween party. It’s really silly to speculate on an out-of-context photo, but isn’t it also fun at the same time?

“Fun” seems to be overall what ABC and the show were going for in this batch of images, which is a nice cry from the grittier and more serious shots that we had last year. You would not get from these images that these are people who spend much of their time dealing with criminals and dead people. They look happy for one, and also at times like they are ready for the red carpet. Gates is one of the only people that we would be able to tell at first glance was a cop; Ryan in this picture is someone, for example, who we would have taken more to be Harvey’s brother on “Suits.” Lanie does not look like a preconceived notion of a medical examiner at all. As for Martha … well, let’s just say that the outfit’s a little out there.
