‘Dancing with the Stars’: Bill Nye, Keyshawn Johnson, ‘Pretty Little Liars’ alum in full cast

Here's the cast -Well, it’s hard to really hate on “Dancing with the Stars” too much for the full cast that they have assembled this year. We only had to Google one name on the list, and even when we did that, we remembered who this person was and what they have done. All in all, that’s a pretty good success story for this show. Overall, you have two relatively-famous reality stars in the mix, an opinionated athlete, a childhood hero, and a few others. This could be the most entertaining season in years, depending on how long certain people make it.

While we are going to have deeper impressions of these cast members moving into the coming weeks, for now we’re just going to go through them with some quick-takes on what we think about their casting.

Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff – The most interesting thing that the former “High School Musical” star has done over the past few years is almost host “The X Factor.” That’s really it.

Elizabeth Berkley and Val Chmerkovskiy – She’s at least a well-known actress (“Saved by the Bell”), and she has the only Chmerkovskiy on the show again this year. (Does this mean that the era of Maks is over?)

Brant Daugherty and Peta Murgatroyd – We had to look him up, but he’s an actor who has appeared on “Pretty Little Liars” as Noel, and we remember him. Should be good in getting young viewers.

Bill Engvall and Emma Slater – This should just be interesting. You have an actor / comedian, who we know from personal experience as a super-nice guy, and you pair him up with a new pro. Kym Johnson and Lindsay Arnold are both not a part of the show this year.

Valerie Harper and Tristan McManus – Given her recent cancer diagnosis she is clearly the biggest inspirational story of the year.

Keyshawn Johnson and Sharna Burgess – In working with Andy Dick, Sharna proved that she can handle big personalities. That’s a good thing, since the NFL legend’s ego is bigger than the ballroom.

Christina Milian and Mark Ballas – We don’t know how Mark and Derek keep getting good partners, but Christina’s going to be a good dancer. Plus we think it’s hilarious that she left “The Voice” to work more on music, and now she’s doing this.

Bill Nye and Tyne Stecklein – A new pro, and a guy who is close to 60. Probably not going to be a couple that last very long. But … Bill! Bill! Bill Nye the Science Guy! Couldn’t resist. Longtime Bill Nye fan, and our personal favorite.

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Sasha Farber – Will probably last for a few weeks just because she’s Snooki, and she’s in good shape and should dance well. She has a lot of fans, but will they be watching “Dancing With The Stars”?

Leah Remini and Tony Dovolani – A pretty standard pairing here. Leah’s was on the popular show in “The King of Queens.” Should be fun.

Amber Riley and Derek Hough – The “Glee” star is getting to work with the most successful pro on the show. This to us is a ratings draw, and likely a couple that lasts for a while given that Amber at least knows choreography well.
