‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: See all of next year’s directors
In addition to sharing this list (which was first posted by Entertainment Weekly) below, we’ve also tried to include at least one additional detail in some of the past work that they have done on the HBO hit.
Episode 4×01 – David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. In addition to serving as the two showrunners, they were also the team behind the season 3 episode “Walk of Punishment.” Despite being the chief creative force on the show, they do not often step into this other role.
Episodes 4×02, 4×03, 4×08, and the finale – Alex Graves. This move surprises us somewhat, but mostly because Graves only has directed two episodes thus far in “Kissed By Fire” and “And Now His Watch His Ended.” Jumping to four, a lot for any one director, is a ton of sudden responsibility.
Episodes 4×04, 4×05 – Michelle MacLaren. Michelle directed “Second Sons” and “The Bear and the Maiden Fair” from last year, and she has also directed many “Breaking Bad” episodes.
Episodes 4×06, 4×07 – Alik Sakharov. What is interesting is that he is the only directed here from the first two seasons, as he tackled 2012’s “What Is Dead May Never Die.” He was also the force behind last year’s “The Climb.”
Episode 4×09 – Neil Marshall. You probably heard this announcement already. This is the most-important episode of the entire season, and he previously took on another important episode like this in “Blackwater.”
