‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 notes: The first week of filming; a guest star debate

Game of Thrones

With “Game of Thrones” season 4 now officially in production, we have shifted somewhat from hearing stories related to the show almost all the time, to there being very few stories about the show at all. Much of that is in part motivated by Comic-Con coming up next weekend, where there will surely be plenty of reveals related to the show’s new guest stars, the storyline, and other assorted goodies.

But before we get to that, we have at least a couple of small updates for you now, beginning with the news that filming for the entire first week of the show is over! This news was confirmed by behind-the-scenes writer Cat Taylor on Twitter, and we’re also hearing that filming is still very much centralized in Northern Ireland. Like last year, the bulk of the early filming will take place in the country, and they will eventually later this summer (and into fall) take off to some other destinations. Iceland has already been confirmed, as has Dubrovnik, Croatia (a.k.a. King’s Landing).

Meanwhile … A brief update from Tobias Menzies. Remember Edmure Tully? He is one of the loose ends now from the Red Wedding, given that he is now away with his new bride (who he seemed to genuinely be interested in) while Robb Stark and so many others are dead.

Sadly, Menzies tells the Independent that at this very moment, there is no word yet as to what is going to become of him. Therefore, we don’t know if we have seen the end of his character on the show or not, and they have plenty of other stories to get to.
