Big Brother 28 finale date set at CBS

If you have been wondering when the Big Brother 28 finale is going to be arriving over at CBS, let’s just say we’ve got some clarity now!

Today, the folks at the network confirmed that come Thursday, October 1, the show is going to conclude after 87 days at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. That will be followed by the second episode of The Amazing Race, which is airing on a special night. (It will go back to just Wednesday airings the following week.)

So where does this put season 28 in the grand scheme of things? This makes this season a few days longer than what we had with season 27, but also slightly shorter than what we had with both seasons 25 and 26, which were probably a little bit longer than they needed to be. A lot of the length of a season comes down to what the network needs at a given time; for example, season 25 was longer at 100 days in part due to the writers’ strike of that year and less programming. 82-90 days feels like an ideal length for the season.

Now if you do the math between the numbers of players left and the number of weeks, you will see there is flexibility for a lot of stuff, whether that be a Double / Triple Eviction, a Battle Back, or a number of other twists. A lot will come down to what is decided behind the scenes, but we would argue that with a time-travel theme behind the scenes here, wouldn’t bringing back a juror or something like that make sense? (Both Ashley and Rome have been sent home; neither is off hiding in sequester at this point.)
