The Amazing Race 39 premiere date official at CBS!

If you are out there eager to see The Amazing Race 39 officially kick off over at CBS, we do have news today worth celebrating.

As a part of a larger press release talking about upcoming programming for the 2026-27 TV season, it has been confirmed that the Phil Keoghan hosted reality staple is going to be back come Wednesday, September 30 with a 90-minute premiere at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time. This will be the standard timeslot for the entire season; with that being said, episode 2 is going to air on October 1 at 9:30 p.m. following the Big Brother 28 finale.

So what can be said about The Amazing Race 39 so far? Based on what is out there, you are not going to be seeing more Big Brother houseguests and their loved ones. Instead, this could be a more traditional season by all accounts. Filming for it wrapped some time ago and with that, CBS has just been waiting for the right time to launch it. While it may not get the same live + same-day ratings as Survivor, it has shown to be a worthy timeslot companion and has a dedicated following that goes back a solid two and a half decades at this point.

As excited as we are about season 39 of the Race, this does not take away our questions about season 40. What in the world could be done there? We do wonder already if there is a chance that we get some sort of all-winner or all-star season. There are a ton of possibilities out there and in the end, it really just comes down to what producers want — and we certainly think that CBS is going to have their say in this at the same exact time.

Hopefully, we are going to get some sort of cast announcement come early September — fingers crossed!
