The Beauty season 2: Is it canceled? The latest at FX

Following the big season 1 finale of The Beauty over at FX, have we reached the end of the road here? Is there no immediate resolution to the cliffhanger?

Well, let’s just go ahead and say now that there is some bad news we regrettably have to report already. According to a new report coming in right now via Deadline, the Ryan Murphy produced series may not be coming back for another chapter. While not officially canceled as of right now, the cast contracts have expired, meaning that they are free to take on some other shows. There are also no immediate plans for another season.

So what happened here? Well, the aforementioned site notes that The Beauty is especially costly when you consider the wide array of international locales. It also had a large cast, and really did seem to pale in comparison to how another show in the Murphy umbrella fared in Love Story — at least in terms of popularity and buzz.

Could the series eventually be revisited? Sure, but we also do not love the fact that this is the second major Murphy production over the last several years to end without a tremendous amount of closure. This is something that we did see transpire with Grotesquerie as well, and that was a show that seemed to have a number of other questions that desperately needed to be answered.

At the very least, we do recognize that a number of the cast members here have some other projects in the works. Take Evan Peters, who is going to be a part of the next American Horror Story season slated to air in September. The fact that he is such a Murphy staple does mean that the door is almost certainly going to be open for more.
