Task season 2 spoilers: A Mare of Easttown crossover coming!

We knew that in some ways, there was already a spiritual connection between Task and Mare of Easttown. After all, Brad Ingelsby serves as the creator and showrunner for both shows; not only that, but they are also each set in Pennsylvania and are somewhat similar when it comes to their tone.
Today, let’s just say that the connection is a little more literal. According to a report from Variety, Julianne Nicholson is going to be appearing on Task season 2 as Lori Ross, a character who originated over on the other show in the past. The true extent of the role remains to be seen and yet, this is at least confirmation and the shows share a universe and there is a chance we see more of this down the road.

The exact details of the second season of the HBO hit remain unclear, save for a brief story synopsis already released:
“Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) takes the helm of a new task force, but the deeper the operation runs, the harder it is to tell who’s the target.”
Ultimately, our general feeling is that we are going to see Task return at some point moving into 2027. Consider us more than thrilled in the event that we see it back before then but at the same time, we do not feel like this is a network who is going to really rush anything along. For them, the priority has to be just working however they can in order to make it into a hit equal to what we had the first time around. That much of episodes was undeniably thrilling, and we do think the success here will come down to 1) the writing and 2) continuing to surround Ruffalo with as much talent as humanly possible.
