The Bear series finale: Did Carmy leave the restaurant?

The entirety of The Bear season 5 has now arrived on Hulu and with that, of course, also comes the end of the series.
So what did we learn through this particular story? Well, arguably, one of the most important things — Carmy’s future, and whether or not he can find happiness somewhere.

As it turns out, Jeremy Allen White’s character is not looking to be full-time in the culinary world anymore and moving forward, he is prepared to take on a new job at an architecture firm. He is starting from the bottom and with that, financially he may not be altogether set at present. However, this may eventually put him on a road where he can be happy. He also can still go back to the restaurant and his found family anytime he wants, especially since it is sticking around. Not only that, but it has two Michelin stars!
Moving forward, Sydney is clearly the one who is running the operation and we do think that it is in her more-than-capable hands. They seemingly have a better financial plan for the future, whereas Richie is going to continue to improve to the best of his ability in the hospitality sector. We do think that The Bear has been really defined in a lot of ways by the stress of the characters, so there is something rather cathartic that comes from seeing them get a win at this point.
As for romance…
The show never leaned that hard into it, but there are at least some assorted updates we can give. There is a chance on some level still for Carmy and Claire, though the show continues to leave that ambiguous. Meanwhile, Richie is very-much with Jess now, just as we have been wanting to see.
