Love Island USA season 8: Is Alannah still on the show?

Heading into tonight’s Love Island USA episode, we know that there have been questions aplenty about the future of Alannah in Casa Amor. After all, shortly after her casting was revealed social-media footage has emerged showing racist and offensive comments. This is something that multiple islanders have been removed from the show for over the years.

So what happened tonight? Well, to the surprise of some, Alannah is still a part of the show … albeit with an interesting caveat. If you pay attention, prior to the challenge she was barely present on-screen. She is currently paired with Zach and by virtue of that, she had to be a part of the challenge that took place.

One important thing to wonder here is precisely when tonight’s episode was filmed in relation to when the comments first unearthed. There is a chance that she may still be removed, but the series has not announced anything in some official capacity as of yet.

All we can state here is that if you look at the history of Love Island USA in particular, producers do not tend to keep contestants on the show for long who have a history of offensive social-media behavior. Leaving them can set up really difficult situations for the other cast members, who find themselves confronted with a flurry of headlines unrelated to them shortly after the season concludes.

Of course, this is still a developing situation — we will have more on the subject the moment that it actually comes out. In general, we do still hope that producers do find a way to discover and root out some of this behavior during the casting process — long before they ever make it to the villa in the first place.
